Clubs & Activities
At Mayfield School we know the importance of extra curricular activities and how they help to enhance our student's lives socially, emotionally, and physically! We have a wonderful team of teachers, staff, and other community members that help us provide these options for our children. Here are a few examples of the activities ongoing at Mayfield this 2018-2019 school year:
'Running Club' - In the fall, Mrs. Wolfe runs 'running club'
'Choir and Handbells' - Mrs.Bowering, our Music Teacher runs 'Choir and Handbells' on Tuesdays after school.
'Kids on Track' - Kids on Track is a community organization with a passion to offer hope, direction and support to children, youth and parents. They are purposeful in focusing on those families whose socioeconomic situations have made it difficult for them to access opportunities needed for optimal development of their young people. Kids on Track runs at Mayfield on Wednesdays after school from 3:30pm - 5:00pm. For additional information on their website, check www.kidsontrack.org
'Photography Club' - Students explore different photography elements during a variety of projects. Images can be shot with anything from a phone or iPad to a digital camera. Thank you to our Grade 1 teacher, and talented professional photographer, Mrs.Wolfe, for facilitating this club.
'Turtle Spirit' - Tuesdays at lunch, elementary students are welcome to join 'Elder Shirley' and our FNMI School Family Liaison, Dakota Mcguire, in a lunch session embracing culture and tradition of the indigenous...
'Hot Lunch, Spirit Day' - Once a month Mrs. Spisak, Administrative Assistant organizes a hot lunch day and a 'school spirit' day. Students in Grade 5/6 help to promote the hot lunch by creating posters and posting information for other students to see. Spirit Day is a day once a month dedicated to showing your 'school spirit' through participation. This year we've had 'crazy hair day', 'crazy hat day', 'pajama day' etc - to come are 'favorite jersey/team', 'rock your mocs (moccasins)' and a few other special days! Money raised from our hot lunch program benefits our students in elementary and helps to purchase wish list items for classrooms, facilitate grade 6 grad and other special events such as 'fun day' at the end of the year.
'Free Footie' - Students in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 wanting to participate in this year's soccer season can register by April 19th to play soccer at Mayfield School 4-5pm beginning May 8th and ending June 12th. This is a fantastic opportunity put on by amazing sponsers who provide all the materials and clothing necessary for our students to participate. Thank you to all of the wonderful people that allow students to play free footie at Mayfield School!
